The doll's quiet red kimono is delicately accented with gold and silver plum blossoms, evoking the grace of early spring. This design is inspired by the famous haiku of Michizane Sugawara, a revered scholar and poet from the Heian period (A.D. 903), who wrote about the fragrance of plum blossoms heralding the arrival of spring.
